Welcome to Worship!
We’re so glad you’re here today as we gather to seek God’s presence during this season of Lent. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or have been part of our church family for years, we pray this time encourages your heart and strengthens your faith.
This week, our study of King David reminds us that God’s presence doesn’t always remove trials, but it sustains us through them. Surrounded by enemies and uncertainty, David found refuge in God, responding with worship rather than fear. His story invites us to trust God in our struggles, knowing He is always at work.
Lent is a season of reflection and renewal—a time for us to reflect on where we find strength for our struggles and draw near to Christ through worship, prayer, and service. We invite you to take part in the life of our church as we grow together in faith:
Gathering in worship and fellowship
Growing in God’s Word and spiritual practices
Serving one another and our community
Thank you for being here today. If you have any questions or would like to get connected, I’d love to hear from you! You can reach me directly at 410-639-2144 or email me at the link below.
May you be encouraged today to stand firm in God’s love and faithfulness.
All for Him!
Pastor Gary

Benediction | Life is much more than an accident. Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there. Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there. He has a purpose for me being there - Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am. I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power. |

Message Notes
David 5: God's Hand in Our Hardships
1 Samuel 19
God works through people to protect and guide us. (1 Sam 19:1-24)
David was spared through Jonathan (v. 1-7), Michal (v. 11-17), Samuel (v. 18-21), and God’s Spirit (v. 22-24).
David responded to trials with worship, not weapons. (Ps 59:16-17)
Instead of fear, he trusted in God’s strength.
Sometimes the clearest sign of God’s presence is not that we are past our trials, but that we are standing securely in the midst of them. (Ps 59:9, 16-17)
“You are my strength… You, God, are my fortress.”
Saul experienced God’s power but refused to surrender. (1 Sam 19:22-24)
“A person can be affected by the power of God…but not surrendered to the power of God.”
Jesus is our true intercessor, standing in the gap for us. (Heb 7:25, John 15:13)
Like Jonathan, Jesus intercedes for us before the Father.
The Holy Spirit gives us the power to stand firm. (Acts 1:8, Rom 8:11)
Just as God’s Spirit stopped Saul’s plans, the Spirit empowers us today.
Bottom Line:
God’s work in our lives isn’t proven by the absence of trials, but by His presence sustaining us through them.
Daily Devotional Reading:
Wake-Up Call provides a daily encouragement to shake off the slumber of our busy lives and turn our eyes toward Jesus. Each morning our community gathers around a Scripture, a reflection, a prayer, and a few short questions, inviting us to reorient our lives around the love of Jesus who transforms our hearts, homes, churches, and cities.
