Week 1: Laying the Foundation
At the beginning of the Vital Merger process, many foundational pieces need to be in place. This first week of prayer will focus on building a solid foundation.
“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:10-12
5. Pray for the Mission
At the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, he laid out the mission/purpose of what he came to do. “He (Jesus) unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written: ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.’ Then he began to speak to them.
‘The Scripture you’ve just head has been fulfilled this very day.’”
Luke 4:17-21
The Mission or purpose of the church guides the direction and ministries of the church. Agreement and alignment are essential.
Pray for clear direction from God about the Mission of the church.
Pray for an agreement in the church around the stated Mission.
Pray for peace and a willingness to align all ministries of the church around the Mission/Purpose.
