Thank you for joining us for worship this holiday weekend.
Today, we continue our message series titled THE LIFE as we work our way through the book of Genesis. This brings us today to an account of Joseph testing his brothers' character. This narrative forces us to think about the ways that we experience testing in our lives as we ask: "Would God give us more than we can handle?"
I pray that your time with us in today's worship helps you move closer to Jesus and reveals more of his plan for your life.

Merger Prayer Focus: Laying the Foundation
At the beginning of the Merger process, many foundational pieces need to be in place. This first week of prayer will focus on building a solid foundation.
“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:10-12
1. Pray for an openness to God’s presence. Isaiah 43:19
2. Pray for an openness to the action of God’s Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8
3. Pray for our Merger Team Matt 6:10
4. Pray for your neighbors Luke 10:25-29
5. Pray for the Mission Luke 4:17-21
6. Pray for Vision, Proverbs 29:18
7. Pray for Clarity of values Matt 6:24
Take it Home:
Perspective means a lot when we find ourselves in a big or small test. How is Paul’s perspective in 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 contrary to how most of us would normally think when facing challenges or trials?
What part of this Scripture is most encouraging to you?
What part is most challenging?
If you were facing a great difficulty or challenge, what would you want someone to do (or not do) in their attempt to comfort or help you?
Three of Daniel's friends were faced with the kind of situation that could easily have caused them to doubt God and his plan—they were told to either worship an idol or be thrown into a blazing furnace.
What do you learn about faith in the midst of a test from their experience in Daniel 3:16-28?
What would you say to someone who wanted to develop the same kind of faith as these three guys?
When encountering a test or trial, sometimes we can think we have to just be positive to show we’re remaining faithful. Psalm 77 shows how we can be real about what’s going on and what we think in the midst of a tough situation and still remain faithful. After reading Psalm 77, jot down a few of your own thoughts and/or emotions about a tough season in your life or test you’ve encountered. Also, try to include anything you can think of that God has done for you.
What’s challenging about being honest with God like in this Psalm?
