Welcome.
We are glad to have you join us for worship. Let me ask, what's chipping away at your soul? What's getting in the way of you becoming the person God created you to be? Over these 4 weeks we are exploring how we can neutralize damaging influences and embrace clean living through a "Soul Detox."
This week we will look at the seduced soul. Our souls are a gift from God, for us to eternally connect with God; yet how often do we find ourselves drawn away from Him rather than to him. How can we resolve this and find all the joy and significance we were created for in HIm alone? Let’s find out together.
Our church is a community of believers who come together to worship, pray, and learn from each other. We value the importance of family and strive to create an environment where individuals and families can grow closer to God and to each other.
At our church, we believe that everyone has the potential to impact the world. In our programs and ministries, we seek to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to make a difference in our communities and in the world.
So, if you are looking for a church home that seeks to make a positive impact in Rock Hall and the world, we invite you to join us. No matter who you are or where you come from, you are welcome here. We look forward to getting to know you and to growing in our faith together.
If you have any questions or want to discuss your faith journey, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. My email is gary@yourrockhall.church and my office telephone is 410-639-2144.

Benediction
Life is much more than an accident. Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there. Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there. He has a purpose for me being there -
Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am.
I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.
If you would like someone to pray with you, please come and meet one of our ministry leaders at the end of the service.

Message Notes
Soul Detox: Seduced
We aren’t a body with a soul. We are a soul with a body.
“You must not have any other god but me. 4 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. Exodus 20:3–4
The more I love this world—less room in my soul for God. More I love God—less I crave what this world has to offer.
“Idolatry is worshiping anything that ought to be used, or using anything that ought to be worshiped.” Augustine
How to dethrone the idols of our soul:
Mark 8:36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
Step 1: Identify the idols
Psalm 24:3–4 Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.
Step 2: Tear the idols down
Judges 6:25 That same night the LORD said to him, “Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one seven years old. Tear down your father’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.
Mark 10:21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Step 3: Fill your soul with God.
Psalm 84:2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Psalm 107:9 For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.
Psalm 42:1–2 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
This week’s YouVersion Bible Reading Plan:
We are not a body with a soul. We are a soul with a body. While the world rightly teaches us to detox our bodies, sometimes we need to detox our soul. This 35-day plan will help you identify what's chipping away at your soul, and what's getting in the way of you becoming the person who God created you to be. You will learn from God's Word how you can neutralize these damaging influences and embrace clean living for your soul.
