January 1st Worship Program

Updated: Jan 2, 2023

Happy New Year!

Thank you for joining us for worship this week. This Sunday is a special day. Throughout the year, we come together as a church community here in Rock Hall in order to worship together, this Sunday is one of those days. But it’s also the start of a new year, a day filled with potential.

Many of us have moved beyond making resolutions because a resolution seems too much. But I think we can all agree that there are some things we want to accomplish or see happen in the coming year. It’s healthy to have goals, personally and professionally, for your family, your business, even as a church.

This week, we return to a study of the Gospel of Luke, and Jesus explains the necessary foundation for Kingdom living. The odd thing is, many of us would say that developing a more vibrant spiritual life is a worthwhile goal for the year, but Dr Luke would probably say it’s actually essential.

In this week’s text, Jesus teaches a series of parables that give us a clear picture of some of the characteristics required to live the Kingdom life… while here on earth. Get ready, let us start the year off right by leaning in to all the spiritual resources God provides.

If you have any questions about our church or want to discuss your faith journey, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. My email is gary@yourrockhall.church and my office telephone is 410-639-2144. Thank you again for joining us.

Thank you again for joining us.

Benediction

Life is much more than an accident. Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there. Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there. He has a purpose for me being there -

Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am.

I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

This week’s YouVersion Bible Reading Plan:

Over the course of 15 days, Paul David Tripp will remind you of God’s grace towards you—truths that never grow old. When “behavior modification” or feel-good aphorisms aren’t enough to make you new, learn to trust in God’s goodness, rely on His grace, and live for His glory each and every day. Join online with a group of friends from church as we read and share from this daily reading.

Pastor's Study: Living Faithfully Starting next Sunday, 12/4, at Wesley Chapel UMC, Pastor Gary will be leading a study based on the book Living Faithfully, Human Sexuality and the United Methodist Church. Gatherings will be on 12/4, 12/18, 1/8, and 1/15 The book is available in print and digital formats. This is a required step in our disaffiliation discernment process. All are invited
