December 3rd Worship Program

Welcome to Church!

We're so glad to have you worship with us as we begin the season of Advent this weekend. As we gather, I want to make sure you know how grateful we are to have you worship with us. It's a blessing to explore the hope, joy, love, and peace of Advent alongside friends and neighbors.

This weekend, we continue our study of the early church in Acts as we consider Peter and John’s confident hope following their arrest for preaching Jesus.. It’s an inspiring and challenging story that has great applications for our lives today.

After the service, we will have a short information meeting, but before that starts, take a few minutes to engage friends and neighbors in conversation, or spend some time in prayer. We hope you find our church is not just a place of worship but a community of support and love.

Thank you for being a part of our family today. My prayer is that our time together in worship would be a source of inspiration, reflection, and connection in your relationship with Jesus. If you have any questions or want to discuss your faith journey, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. My office telephone is 410-639-2144, or just use the question cards in each pew.

Richest Blessings!

Closing Worship Benediction

Life is much more than an accident. Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there. Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there. He has a purpose for me being there -

Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am.

I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

If you would like someone to pray with you, please come and meet one of our ministry leaders at the end of the service.

Message Text

Living a Hope Filled Life

Acts 4:1-22

Too good to be true

‌Acts 4:1–22

Lessons from Opposition:

Lesson 1: Sometimes OBEDIENCE brings OPPOSITION.

‌Luke 12:11–12

Lesson 2: Opposition may not be our COST, but be our REWARD.

‌Luke 21:10–15

Lesson 3: Let’s pray for more MINISTRY, not just less MISERY.

‌Romans 5:3–5

The key to a truly good life:

‌If the good life means no problems, then our life won’t ALWAYS BE GOOD;

But if good means GLORIFYING GOD, then life can never really BE BAD.

‌Romans 8:28

‌‌‌1 Corinthians 10:31

‌‌‌Philippians 4:11-13

‌‌‌James 1:2-4

Unquenchable, courageous hope is a result of a Spirit-filled life.

Take it Home:

  1. Read Acts 4:1-12. What do you notice about Peter and John in this passage? What were these men teaching about Jesus? What do we learn about the Holy Spirit in this passage? Why do you think the early church grew so quickly?

  2. Read Acts 4:13-22. What did the religious leaders fear about the message of Peter and John? Is there anything about Peter and John that you can relate to as you read this story? What? If God could use these men, how do you suppose he could use you?

  3. The Rock Hall Community needs the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ. What are some practical ways you could serve our city this week?
