August 1st Worship Program

Thank you for joining us for worship this weekend.

We are coming off a great week of ministry with our mission team returning on Saturday Night and our VBS week wrapping up Friday. What a week its been.

Today we are nearing the end of the story of Joseph and its been quite a journey as well. But along the way we have seen that Joseph and his family were actually living out God's story.

What does it take for us to live out God's story? Is it even possible? Where do we start? Today we find out.

I pray that your time with us in today's worship encourages your faith and helps you move closer to Jesus as you discover more of his plan for your life.

Merger Prayer Focus: Needing workers

One of the major hindrances to growing as a new church is the lack of workers. As the church launches new ministries to reach new people in the mission field, an adequate number of passionate workers need to be in place.

  1. Pray that God would bring people to fill the gaps. Matt 9:37-38

  2. Pray for new teachers. James 3:1

  3. Pray for more youth and children workers. Matt 19:14

  4. Pray God would bring young adult workers. 1 Cor 12:7

  5. Pray God would bring tech people. 1 Cor 12:27

  6. Pray that God would bring more musicians. Psalm 150

  7. Pray that God would bring diversity in workers. Eph 2:13-16

Take it Home:

Apparently Joseph’s work ethic was such that Pharaoh wondered if there were any more like him amongst his brothers who could work for him. That’s a pretty good goal for us – to work in such a way that your boss wants to hire more people like you. The following Proverbs give principles for how to work in a way that moves us towards that goal. As you read them jot down what each one says about work and how that principle could be applied in your work, school, or home environment.

Proverbs 10:4

Proverbs 14:23

Proverbs 16:26

Proverbs 22:29

Proverbs 28:19 2.

This week, Pastor Gary encouraged us to get right with God instead of getting religious. Jesus had a lot to say about “getting religious” when he addressed the Pharisees, a group of religious leaders of his day. They used their cultural teachings and man-made rules to try to demonstrate how “all in” they were for God even though their hearts were far from him. As you read the passages below, identify what they did that looked religious on the outside, but in reality fell far short of what God wanted.

Mark 7:1-13

Matthew 23:23-28

Can you think of any motivations or issues that caused them to miss what God was really calling them to do?

What does Jesus say are some of the results of following tradition and man-made rules and not really surrendering to God?

As you look at your own life, are there any areas where you've allowed some tradition or man-made rule to give you a false sense of surrender
