August 15th Worship Program

Updated: Aug 28, 2021

Thank you for joining us for worship this weekend.

Today we are nearing the end of the story of Joseph and its been quite a journey for him and his family, but what about the people of Egypt? They've been in the background all this time and today we take a moment to focus in on them to see what we can learn.

I pray that your time with us in today's worship encourages your faith and helps you move closer to Jesus as you discover more of his plan for your life.

Merger Prayer Focus: The Transition

  • Pray for our merger team to communicate clearly with people who have sincere questions. 1 Peter 1:22

  • Pray for those who fear what might be lost, to find peace through faith in Christ. Psalm 34:8

  • Pray for excitement as we begin to consider new opportunities for ministry. Acts 8:5-8

  • Pray that our membership becomes bound to our mission rather than our buildings. Matthew 28:19-20

  • Pray for the process of discerning what spaces our ministries require. Philippians 1:9-10

  • Pray for an eagerness in our churches come together as one. Colossians 3:14

Take it Home:

Read Genesis 47:11-31

  • What, if anything, new did you learn from this scripture?

  • We considered that while the famine was affecting the Egyptians in horrific ways, it seems that the Israelites were un affected. This calls us to consider the result of being a servant to ways of the world vs. being a servant to the ways of God. To what sins or aspects of worldliness have you made yourself a servant, rather than serving Christ in righteousness?

  • Confess this in prayer, asking the Lord to give you the grace to repent and to turn to Him in righteousness.

Read Galatians 3:1-25

  • Do you consider Christ to be your Lord? Define His lordship from a Biblical perspective.

Read Matthew 7:21-23

  • How have you been a blessing to someone else in the last week? How can you seek to bless someone in Christ today? This week coming?

Read Colossians 3:1-17

  • Why is it so important that Jesus has gone before us in death, resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of God? How does this impact your daily life? How should it?
